This Winter Beer Festival is buzzing #beerfestival #winter #Bristol
Ok, admittedly when I tweeted this we were the very first visitors on a Friday evening at 6pm, it was a bit quiet for what was the beginning of a weekend long beer festival. Perhaps a band should have been scheduled for 5pm to help attract nearby punters gasping for a beer?
Exchanging money for tokens on the door was a slightly different twist in the evening – it felt like the most expensive bit of paper ever when I handed over £10 for the tokens. Walking into the festival on the cobbles of King St there were benches lined up, patio heaters and a hog roast which smelt fantastic. We enjoyed the ‘Missing Children’ tent which cued a few jokes about adults getting plastered and losing their friends.. all signs of a prepared and well thought out event.
The drinks we ordered had mixed reactions, I went for a Festive Spice, but there was also Butcombe’s Christmas Step’s available (an amazing festive Butcombe booze available on tap in Colston Yard if you fancy it!). We decided we went to the wrong side of the bar as we were discouraged to have samples (only 2 out of the 20 were recognisable, c’mon!) and the people on the other side of the bar were joking and laughing. The stacks of barrels behind the bar looked great, it’s every ale-drinkers dream!!!
2 pints later and we were still too early for the musical entertainment, the pints hadn’t yet warmed up the toes so it was time to check in to a nearby centrally heated pub! (Small Bar just further down the road is amazing, blog post coming up soon). Upon walking past the Beer Festival a little bit later on in the night the music had set the atmosphere and finally the sounds of happy boozers had created a bit of atmosphere in the festival.
Hope the rest of the weeekend goes well for you guys!
