A celebratory blog post which pays homage to the South West countryside, the Suspension Bridge, Leigh Woods, the Downs all of which runs right on our doorstop in Bristol. When all I need is a clear head, I can run for 10 minutes and I’m instantly on a quiet towpath being surrounded by trees, the Avon river and Leigh Woods.
This was the first Sunday I’ve had ample amount of time to just go for a leisurely run, still feeling the effects of an intense 5 day gym routine, this route really pushed me as I ascended up steep hills and cross terrain. For those living north of the river just cut down through Clifton to the towpath, but for those South of the river just find the towpath via Bedminster. Once you’re on it you want to run until you’ve gone past the Suspension Bridge (you’re underneath it as this point). Then take a left up into Leigh Woods – there’s a gate and a walkers sign.
Some sneaky route shots
