Notting Hill Carnival is in it’s final hours this Bank Holiday weekend as I write this, after two busy days the streets of West London finally recover from the street party and it’s visitors, dancers, powder paint fights and food vendors. I took to the streets with my SLR and had one of the best weekends of the year so far…
I have visited St Paul’s Carnival (Bristol’s equivalent) twice now and just about got used to the 100,000 other visitors crowding into a concentrated part of the city but the prospect of going to Europe’s biggest carnival in London had slightly intimidated me. We headed up from Paddington station and finally ended up in a tightly knitted crowd of slowly moving spectators soaking up the parade. We then spent the rest of the afternoon on the pavement where the parade came past sipping on rum and coke, willingly twerking with dancers and having the best time…I even spotted a celebrity dashing past.
One of my favourite photographs from the whole day.
And all of the colours in this photograph are beautiful
The sound of drums filled the streets, if it wasn’t instruments it was DJs passing by on huge lorries
I was waving to the kids chilling in the passenger seat of this lorry
The remnants of powder paint fights and chocolate fights passed us – clearly evident on the dancers in the parade
Spectators watching the parade
I have no idea what I said to this dancer to get her chuckling, it might have just been after she was twerking my friends
Caught up in the moment
Unfortunately one of the stewards was handed an empty roll, he looked so disappointed.
This is my second to favourite photo of a girl called Sydnee-Lee who was passing by, such an awesome photo.
Couldn’t help but stop some of these people as they passed me by..
Then I noticed someone marching past me really quickly only to realise it was Lily Allen!
